Mark Mallon - Coaching Director at The Soccer Institute is one of the most highly credentialed coaches in the United States.

Mark Mallon was an all-America collegiate soccer player at West Chester University in Pennsylvania, where he captained the team his senior year before being selected to play professional soccer in the NASL by Gary Hindley, then coach of the first Houston Dynamo team. The NASL folded prior to his first season.
After receiving a B.S. and K-12 teaching credential in Health & Physical Education from WCU, Mark returned to his hometown to teach in Voorhees, NJ. He was elected President of the Voorhees Soccer Association at age 25 and held that post until accepting his first full-time soccer coaching position at Yale.

The Yale team's achieved the best record in school history during his four year tenure on the staff (1989 - 1992) coaching with Steve Griggs.
The Yale soccer team reached the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 1989 and went all the way to the NCAA Final Eight in 1991, bowing to eventual National Champion University of Virginia led by captain Claudio Reyna and coached by Bruce Arena who became the US National Team Coach.
University of California - NCAA Division I
Men's Head Soccer Coach (1993 - 1999)
Mark was named Head Men's Soccer Coach at the University of California - Berkeley in 1993. In just three seasons he led the CAL Bears to a school record #2 national ranking in October of 1996 after inheriting a program ranked 150th nationally.
His youthful CAL team shocked the nation and UCLA coach, Sigi Schmid, by winning in LA, the first time in 35 home games the Bruins lost !
From 1996 - 1999 the Bears continue to be ranked among the nation's elite college soccer programs despite the minimal funding level for scholarships. In 1999 a failed student referendum known as "BEARS" Bridging Equity in Athletics and Recreational Sports resulted in the athletic departments budget shortage reaching crisis levels....amidst speculation of three men's sports (Baseball, Gymnastics, Soccer) being eliminated to achieve gender equity, Mark resigned to pursue his dream of founding The Soccer Institute while serving as the Director of Coaching and Player Development for the 2,800 member San Ramon Soccer Club.

Mark coached the U17 Boys CYSA - North team to the FAR WEST REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and coached the squad in the inaugural SNICKERS ODP NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP held in Phoeniz, Arizona in 1999.

Coach Mallon's U16 Guilford, CT girls team won the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. His U15 Boys Redding Rebels lost in the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS.
He coached the U12 San Ramon Knights to the State Championship match, and the SRSC Fever/Santos team to the final eight/quarterfinals and won league titles every season over rival Mustang Soccer Club with membership over 5,000 nearly doubling the neighboring SRSC.
Mark had the good fortune to train and develop some young players that have received college scholarships, played for youth national teams, professional teams in MLS, and a couple that are poised to become professionals after their Cal Soccer careers.

Dallas Jaye is a US Y League national team Goalkeeper at IMG, Andrew Wiedeman a US U18 National Team player and collegiate all America (sophomore) at CAL, David Bingham a future professional goalkeeper will be in the nets at CAL this season while Steve Cronin and Troy Roberts (former ODP players) are now playing professionally in the MLS for the LA Galaxy.

The Soccer Institute was founded with the goal of assisting in the development of youth and high school soccer players and to provide a unique Premier Soccer club experience for boys and girls that have a love of the game and a commitment to excellence.
Our year round training programs have been designed to cover all aspects of a players development...technical, speed of play, first touch, receiving and ball control, fitness, positional roles, individual, group, and team tactics.
The TSi training center in Geauga County demonstrates a long-term commitment to the NE Ohio soccer community. The Soccer Institute campus provides a soccer specific facility with indoor arena and outdoor fields ....for year round soccer training, camps, and club play.
